FAQ

Duct Cleaning questions, answered.

Straight answers for Richmond homes and businesses. Can't see yours? Ask us.

Is Richmond Duct Cleaning a duct cleaning company?

No. Richmond Duct Cleaning is a referral site. We publish local guidance and pass enquiries to independent local providers, who do the work and set the price. Read how referrals work for the full explanation.

Who actually does the duct cleaning?

An independent local provider. We'll try to connect you with one who covers your area. The provider deals with you directly, quotes the price and carries out the job.

How much does duct cleaning cost in Richmond?

The provider sets the price, and it depends on home size, vents, access and what is included. A directory cost guide for Vancouver lists an average of $342 and a range of $110 to $1,000, with costs dated November 2020. Treat that as context only.

Is duct cleaning actually worth it?

Sometimes. CMHC testing of 33 Montreal homes, as reported by Checkbook.org, found no significant air quality improvement. Cleaning makes more sense after renovations, pests or visible contamination. Regular filter changes matter most.

Do I need a gas fitter to clean my furnace?

Duct and blower cleaning is not gas fitting, but removing burners, taking piping apart or repairing gas parts is work for a licensed gas fitter. Technical Safety BC regulates gas work. Gas appliances also need yearly servicing by a licensed gas contractor.

How do I check a provider's qualifications?

Ask for licence details, business licence, liability insurance and WorkSafeBC registration if they have workers. Gas licences can be verified through Technical Safety BC. See how to judge a provider.

Does the wet Richmond climate cause mould in ducts?

Richmond gets about 49 inches of precipitation a year, mostly in winter, but damp air alone does not prove mould. If you see growth or smell mustiness, ask a provider to inspect and show you what they find. Mould also needs its moisture source fixed.

Do you serve Ladner?

Ladner is a community in the City of Delta, not Richmond. Some providers may travel there, but coverage is not guaranteed. Tell us your location and we'll check before passing your enquiry on.

How do I get duct cleaning in a strata or condo?

Check your strata bylaws first. Work inside your unit is usually yours to arrange, but common property such as roofs and shared ducts needs council approval. Tell the provider about your building when you enquire.

How do I contact Richmond Duct Cleaning?

Call the number at the top of the page, send the enquiry form or email hello@richmondductcleaning.ca with your neighbourhood, home type and the service you need. Visit the contact page for more.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

We pass your enquiry to an independent provider where one is available for your area. They contact you, give a quote and agree a time. You are under no obligation to book. If you smell gas or have another emergency, do not wait for a reply. Call the emergency line or 911.
